Why is "DEF" so important?

Diesel exhaust fluid is an essential part to keeping your machine running properly.  This fluid is designed to reduce pollution and maintenance costs, while giving you a more efficient machine that complies with EPA regulations.

Better Efficiency

Despite some initial worries over performance, trucks with diesel exhaust fluid are actually more efficient than those without. This is because truck manufacturers are able to design their engines for optimal performance and let the fluid take care of emissions. Trucks that don’t use SCR systems have to redesign their engines to reduce NOx emissions, compromising performance.

Reduced Maintenance

Because of the superior design of engines with SCR systems, there’s less wear and tear on the engine over the course of its life. This reduces the need for maintenance and also makes it less likely that your engine will break down on you. Look for diesel exhaust fluid distributors near you to keep your tank filled and your engine running as efficiently as possible.

Reduce Pollution

The main job of diesel exhaust fluid is to break down nitrogen oxide (NOx) gases into nitrogen and water. NOx emissions are poisonous gases that are one of the leading causes of air pollution, and are often blamed for acid rain and a growing greenhouse effect. On the other hand, nitrogen and water are harmless on their own and can be safely released into the atmosphere.

Comply with Regulations

Perhaps the significant advantage of using diesel exhaust fluid is because doing so allows you to comply with EPA regulations. Don’t think you can get away with not using it, either. Trucks with SCR systems are designed to only run if there’s diesel exhaust fluid in the tank. Let it run empty, and you may find yourself stranded by the side of the road.
